"Eye-Writing" Technique Discovered.

The Wall Street Journal  (7/26, A2, Hotz, Subscription Publication) reports that according to research published online yesterday in the journal Current Biology, Jean Lorenceau, who directs research at the French National Center for Scientific Research, has come up with a method in which people can use their eyes to write on a computer screen in cursive script. The discovery may someday help people with severe disabilities communicate better.

        HealthDay  (7/27, Preidt) reports, "The technology uses a visual display to help people learn to develop smooth eye movement. It doesn't take much practice, according to Lorenceau." In the future, "the 'eye-writing' technology might also help improve eye-movement control...in professions that require strong eye focus," such as surgery, flying or athletic performance.
