Modest Amounts Of Daily Walking May Reduce Diabetes Risk In Obese, Inactive People.




MedWire Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (6/28, Robertson) reports, "Modest amounts of daily walking can significantly reduce the risk for incident diabetes in obese and relatively inactive individuals," according to a study Share to FacebookShare to Twitter published online June 20 in the journal Diabetes Care. In a five-year study of some 1,826 native Americans, those "who took at least 3500 steps (approximately 1.75 miles) a day were 29% less likely to develop diabetes compared with more sedentary participants."
